About Me

My name is Stephen A. McCoy and welcome to my little blog!

I have worn many hats and done many jobs, as I am fascinated by so many things.

I am a writer, researcher, historian and tour guide. If you are ever in the Washington DC area, sign up for one of my tours!

I am a former National Park Ranger and have worked/volunteered at four Smithsonian Museums.

I earned my B.A. in History from Elon University in 2007, I also earned an M.A. in History from Loyola University Chicago in 2010, in 2012 I earned my M.Ed. from Lesley University. In 2017, I earned my third Masters Degree, this one an M.A. in Museum Studies at Johns Hopkins University.

I am a published historian and have done research at both the Library of Congress and the National Archives as well as the Maryland Historical Society.

Just after graduating collage in 2007 I decided I was not ready to grow up yet, and worked at Disney World for a year, where I was a Pirate at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at the Magic Kingdom and a Safari Driver at Animal Kingdom.

I currently live in central Maryland with my wife Rebekah and a little black Cockapoo named Luna and two little boys Marcus and Alexander.

If you would like to see an example of my professional work here is an article I wrote for the German Historical Institute.
